According to Guinness World Records, their website was down for two days due to a cook-a-thon hosted by Nigerian chef, Hilda Effiong Bassey, aka Hilda Baci.

This information was released in a statement by a representative of the record organization on Tuesday along with the formal certification of Hilda as the new record holder for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.

The spokesperson said that the massive amount of traffic from Hilda’s devoted followers caused their website to break down.

“Hilda’s cook-a-thon was in fact so popular that our website crashed for two days due to the immense volume of traffic we received from her legion of loyal fans,” the rep said.

Recall, On June 13, 2023, the statement was released via its official Twitter account following a review of the evidence.

Hilda cooked almost 110 meals in 100 hours, breaking the previous Guinness World Record of 87 hours, 45 minutes, and 00 seconds.

The previous record holder, Indian chef Lata Tondon, broke it in 2019 and was exceeded by Hilda in 2023 after cooking for four days.

She cooked past the 87 hours and set a new record by going for up to 100 hours by 8 p.m. on Monday, May 15, 2023.

The contest was started by the Lagos-based chef at 4 p.m. on May 11.
