UCL: Potter reacts as Jorginho’s replacement misses first penalty in latest win
Chelsea boss, Graham Potter has reacted to Kai Havertz’s penalty miss in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League knockout game on Tuesday night.
He also said that his side enjoyed a ‘little bit of luck’ after the Germany international scored a retaken penalty.
The 2-0 win saw the Blues progress to the quarter-finals of the Champions League
Havertz netted from the spot after missing his first effort from 12 yards. Marius Wolf was harshly penalised for handball.
Havertz had to retake the spot kick despite missing the first one after replays showed that Ozcan had encroached before the kick was taken.
“Not a massive amount, to be honest, I knew they’d encroached,” Potter told BT Sport
We got a little bit of luck there.”
On why he allowed Havertz to take the important penalty again having missed the first one, Potter added, “It was him or Reece, to be honest…
“Obviously, we’ve got confidence in Kai, even though he missed one.”
