Nigerian Afrobeat superstar David Adedeji Adeleke, who is professionally known as Davido, has reacted by expressing joy as he gets listed for national honours.

The celebrities from the entertainment sector that are nominated for the national award honours include Davido, Victor Osimhen, and Kunle Afolayan.

The Ministry of special duties and Intergovernmental Affairs announced the award in various cadres.

Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) was given to Davido.

The performer has amassed enormous influence in the Nigerian music scene, helping to establish Nigeria’s distinctive musical style on a worldwide scale.

The OON was also given to Afolayan, a talented filmmaker whose works are recognized for having pioneered the road for the new Nollywood.

The US streaming service Netflix and Afolayan agreed to a three-picture contract in March 2021, establishing a good example for other participants in Nigeria’s rapidly expanding film industry.

Charles Okpaleke, a filmmaker who received an OON, is another somebody from the entertainment business who has received an award.

Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian footballer whose goal earned Napoli its first Serie A title in 33 years, was awarded an MFR (Member of The Order of Federal Republic).

Terry Waya, a businessman and the father of reality TV star Kiddwaya, was also inducted into the OFR (Order of the Federal Republic) cadre.

All award winners were asked to provide the ministry with a soft copy of their commendation or CV by May 31.

They are also expected to be physically present on June 1, 2023, for the presentation of their medals and diplomas.

Taking to his official social media page, Davido tweeted; “David Adeleke OON 🇳🇬.”
