American rapper Cardi B recently made news for throwing a microphone at a fan on July 29, 2023, at Drai’s Nightclub.
A microphone that Cardi B furiously threw into a crowd is now being sold at an auction to benefit a good cause. The owner of the company that did the audio support at the show, Scott Fisher, put the microphone up for auction on eBay.
Bidding is now over $99,000 (£78,000). The description on the listing reads: “Auctioned for charity. If you want a piece of hip hop infamy and what has now become national and world news then please bid whatever you are willing to spend.”
The entire incident took place at Cardi’s performance at Drai’s Beachclub in Las Vegas. Cardi retaliated by tossing the microphone at the woman who sprayed her with water. The woman ultimately decided to call the police to report the incident.
In a video, security appears to be escorting the woman who was struck by the microphone away from the platform after she begged Cardi to say “I’m sorry.”
She subsequently reported a battery at a neighbourhood police station, which Las Vegas police corroborated. Cardi won’t be charged with a crime, it has been announced.
The company’s owner revealed to Insider that he was first worried about getting the microphone replaced or mended when it came to the sound team.
They were able to verify the microphone correctly because it was labeled as the ‘main’ one. The listing said: “We provided more than one microphone for this particular show and verified with the in house crew which one was specifically used by Cardi for the show.”
Later, Scott decided to sell the microphone to raise money for The Wounded Warrior project, in honour of some of his Veteran family members, and The Friendship Circle. After recouping the $1,000 cost of the mic, he’ll send the rest of the money to charities.
He told Insider: “It’s been ridiculously insane. As long as somebody actually pays for it, some people are going to benefit, hopefully, from the money.”
The original listing was only for $500 (£393) which wouldn’t have even been enough to cover the cost of the damaged equipment. Now, fans have taken it to a new level and the bidding number only continues to go up.
