Seun Kuti, a legendary performer of Afrobeat music, has spoken about being released from police detention after being detained for attacking a police officer.
On Monday, May 15, 2023, Kuti was detained for physically assaulting a police officer on Lagos’ third mainland bridge.
Seun was accused of assaulting a police officer, a violation of Section 356 of the Criminal Code Act. The singer was granted bail on May 16, 2023, but he wasn’t released until today, May 23, 2023. This is despite Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun’s order for police to finish their investigation within 48 hours.
Taking to Instagram on the same day he was released, the singer thanked his wife, family, friends, and legal team for standing by him during the saga. He went on to drop a cryptic acronym, which he asked his fans to decipher.
He wrote:
