Man Utd ex-defender, John O’Shea gets new coaching job

Former Manchester United centre-back, John O’Shea has been appointed as an assistant coach to Stephen Kenny for the Republic of Ireland.

O’Shea, who made 118 caps for the Republic of Ireland national team, becomes an assistant coach for the first team after working with the Under 21 side for almost three years.

The 41-year-old recently completed his UEFA Pro Licence with the FAI in December 2022.

Speaking about his new role, O’Shea said: “I am delighted to join the senior international team coaching staff and look forward to working with Stephen and the rest of the backroom team.”

O’Shea left Man United in 2011 for Sunderland.

He also played for Reading before he finally retired from football.
