EPL: There’s fresh air now, I’m better man – Ronaldo takes dig at Man Utd

Former Manchester United forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, has aimed a sly dig at his former club after coming through a ‘bad phase’ of his career during his second spell at Old Trafford.

Ronaldo, who currently plays for Saudi Arabia side Al-Nassr, left Man United last year after his explosive interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan in which he criticized the club.

The Portugal captain’s contract with Man United was terminated by mutual consent prior to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Before his exit from the Premier League giants, Ronaldo had fallen out of favour under manager Erik ten Hag at the Red Devils.

His game time was restricted as his unhappiness grew, and so did his frustration.

However, speaking at a press conference ahead of Portugal’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Liechtenstein on Thursday night, Ronaldo said there is fresh air at the moment as he is a better man, having left Man United.

The former Real Madrid star said, “I have no problem saying I had a bad phase of my career, but there’s no time for regrets.

“Life goes on and doing well or not, it was part of my growth. When we are at the top of the mountain, we often cannot see what is below.

“Now, I’m more prepared and learning. That was important because I had never been through this, like in the last few months. Now I’m a better man.”

He added, “It is a different chapter for all of us. The energies are good, and positive. That is the most important thing.

“There’s fresh air now, different ideas and mentality.”
