It seems there was a clash between Nigerian producer-turned-singer, Young Jonn, and Olakira on social media over music supremacy.
It all began when a fan expressed surprise that Olakira’s newly released song, ‘Ileke,’ made it to the Nigerian top 10 charts by Beat FM.
Young John seemingly responded to the fan’s surprise, suggesting that Olakira’s song wasn’t worthy of being on the charts. This led to a back-and-forth exchange between the two artists, with Olakira defending his work and Young John standing by his opinion.
The Twitter user known as Provii shared Olakira’s music video for ‘Ileke’ and expressed surprise that the song was maintaining the 10th spot on the charts. He suggested that the artist might be using a streaming farm to boost his numbers.
“See wetin dey enter top 10😂😂, wetin streaming farm no go cause,”he tweeted.

In response to the comment about his song ‘Ileke’ being on the Nigerian top 10 charts, Olakira compared his single to Young John’s song, ‘Aquafina,’ which he claimed was topping charts but lacked real-life listeners. He asserted that ‘Ileke’ deserved its spot on the chart because it was compiled based on organic airplay, indicating that the song’s popularity was genuine and not artificially inflated.
Olakira wrote; “Lmao you think say this one nah aquafina wey dey para for apple charts but nobody dey hear irl? Your foolish self don’t know this particular charts is measured by organic airplay, strictly for organic artists”

Young John’s response indicates that he was not pleased with Olakira’s comparison and accused him of trying to use his name to gain cheap promotion and revive his allegedly “dead” career. This exchange highlights the competitive nature of the music industry and how artists sometimes engage in social media spats to defend their work and reputation.
“Dead guy looking for free promo! congrats” he wrote.
