Nigerian Afrobeat superstar David Adedeji Adeleke OON, who is professionally known as Davido has explained the reasons behind his decision to donate 237 million naira to charity in 2023.
Davido has disclosed that in 2023, he gave 237 million naira to Nigeria’s underprivileged.
The singer made this announcement on Thursday, July 20, 2023, on his social media platform in a post, where he revealed that the reason for this donation, which first occurred on his birthday a few years ago, was that he had always looked for a way to use his platform to provide help and support for other people who need it.
His recent announcement was met with fans’ excitement as his social media post read, “I’ve always wanted to use my platform to serve others. Thankful that through your generosity, I’ve been able to do so. We recently disbursed over N200m to several orphanages in Nigeria, a tradition that started a few years ago around my birthday. Thank you to everyone who donated. With your help, we are changing lives. This is what I mean when I say We rise by lifting others. These are words in action. God bless you all!”
